Vulcan Splisby Crash 1977?

Post by Vulcan74 » Fri Apr 24, 2020 6:57 pm

Hi all

Anyone know what squadron this belonged to, and where it had been flying. I knew it was from Waddington and saw it on the news.

Regards

2nd time this year that the subject of this particular Vulcan has come up, a friend showed me where it crashed a few months ago. The hole (there appears to be 4 to choose from!) is visible by clicking the link, looking between the two trees in the centre of the screen theres a gap in the crops, although its private land and I've never fully looked I'm told its rather a nice pond now.

I recall in subsequent days, a Canberra carrying out some overflights and also a Whirlwind spending some time in the hover above.

Having seen the Vulcan, clearly with fire, and counting parachutes out, it was still very shocking when it went nose down to leave the sky....
