Wasn’t there also an RAF RC about at the same time, RRR something ?
I seem to recall something to the north as I was tracking JAKE21 on ADSB.

Re: Jake21
A bit worrying I must say. Obviously some intel has prompted the dispatch of this aircraft and the RAF RC135.
Re: Jake21
Jake 11 has gone that way today, which is an RC I believe, plus there's another one on it's way, making 3 Rc's and 1 Wc on TDY at Mildenhall I think?
Re: Jake21
Any U2’s about ?
It must be a while since there was this much RC activity.
Although I don’t keep logs and I dip in and out of Aviation, (as I have many other interests and a wife so time is often limited). So I don’t mind being corrected.
I had a good friend who had logbooks and magazines back to the 50’s who had an encyclopaedic knowledge of such things as well as an amazing photo collection.
It’s a shame when all this knowledge is lost.

Re: Jake21
When you consider the Russian Navy held their very large public annual Navy Day in St Petersburg on 29th July, which involved almost every "type" of vessel and submarine they operate, it was the ideal time for some SIGINT and ELINT missions. So not at all worrying.

Re: Jake21
Now I have time for a better look at the ‘Drive’ article.
It would appear that the mission was more Scandinavian than Soviet judging by the tracking map (awkward to see on a phone).
The Drive also presented this as a related article

I’ve recently started reading about Disease, Epidemics and Pandemics. Proper books with references not conspiracy stuff.
Nuclear weapons and accidents are the least of our worries.

Re: Jake21
Potentially Olive 56 heading the same way now. I've often wondered why they show up on ADSB exchange, but I guess so long as they are within friendly borders they don't worry about being seen...?
EDIT - Maybe not. Going south.

Re: Jake21
Reading through the Drive article it does seem that the Russians have been quite active in the area with nuclear powered subs and surface vessels. They have also been conducting tests with nuclear powered missiles in the White Sea. A Norwegian commentator points out that the wind has recently been from that direction and so the flights might be to test for any resulting discharge in the air.
