ROKAF F-35 Makes belly landing

There have been other incidents involving allies and partners in the F-35 program—members of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force have had to make at least seven emergency landings in F-35s, news agency Nikkei reported. There was also a nighttime crash into the ocean in April 2019 that killed a Japanese pilot.
More recently, a British F-35B crashed just after takeoff from an aircraft carrier in November 2021, falling into the Mediterranean Sea.
U.S. Air Force pilots have also dealt with problems. In May 2020, a pilot at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, crashed while landing due to excessive speed, as well as issues with faulty flight control logic, the helmet-mounted display, the jet’s oxygen system, and ineffective simulator training. A month later, an F-35A’s landing gear collapsed at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Given the number of airframes now in use it happens.
Look at the number of B-1B's lost i.e. 10 airframes lost. I think 5+ F-22 airframes lost. Almost any type of airframe suffers losses - how many Typhoons have been written off?
Re: ROKAF F-35 Makes belly landing
Can hardly blame the RAF F-35 loss as an issue with the aircraft if the ground crew left an engine cover in a position that caused it to be sucked into the engine.Doodah wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 11:21 amFrom the article - this doesn't make good reading...

As you say "...if... ".
Re: ROKAF F-35 Makes belly landing
All new aircraft have development problems. When the F-15 first came out the engines caught fire several times as well as the JFS jet fuel starter. It made for interesting times back in the 70s at luke when I first arrived there.
