Just been watching an item on BBC Lincs about flypast. Several of the participant aviators interviewed including the Chinook leader. He confirmed that there will be 3 Chinooks in actual flypast, the rear section of 15 helicopters.

15 helicopters! Sounds good can't wait

(I just counted the number in the last Bastille Day flypast I went to in 2019 - 107 aircraft including the PDF but excluding numerous security helicopters dotted around )

I reckon in addition to the 22 today:
4 more from BBMF
2 more Texans
2 F35s
11 more Hawks
20 more Typhoons
9 Reds

Totalling 70 A/c

3x Wildcat
Puma
Chinook
5x BBMF
4x Texan
Phenom
3x C-130
A400
C-17
P8
RC135
Voyager x2
F-35 X2
Hawk T2 x13
Typhoon x22
Reds x9
I'm trying to work out whether to make the effort or not - at the moment I'm 'on' but the numbers don't add up. If there really are to be 15 helicopters in the QBF then that's 10 more than in the list, so the flypast would be 80 aircraft.

FWIW If we 'know' there will be 15 choppers, then my guess would be something like:
3xChinook,
3xPuma
1xWildcat HMA2 + 2 x Merlin HM2 (ASAC?)
1xWildcat AH1 + 2 x Merlin HC4
1xWildcat AH1 + 2 x Apache

The only place I can see where you can lose 10 aircraft is the Tiffies and/or Hawks?

I'll be in the Shepherds Bush area - I could nip down to Hammersmith Bridge to watch or are there any rooftop multistroey caparks I could see from?

My list was just my thoughts, I didn't know about the extra choppers when typing it

BBMF could end up only being three, there maybe no F-35s, that's four more there.

Biggest number of Typhoons up for practice so far has been 14 I think.

Fatherfaff,

I don't know about recent years, but in the past they usually turned after going over the palace and headed out towards the direction of RAF Northolt.

Someone might know a bit more about the 2019 flypast

If anyone has info on where the helicopter element of the flypast join up then that would be useful, believe in 2018 for the RAF 100th Anniversary flypast the choppers used Stapleford Tawney airfield . From north Norfolk I would travel to Southwold but sure will not see any helicopters from there so may have to travel nearer to London.

14 Typhoons way off the coast of Hull just now. They dropped-off ADSB but were still showing on FR.
Edit... Got carried away there, should have been in the well noted 'Heads-up'. :)

The log of the practice should give you a good idea what time everything will launch on the day.

I think we all know the route by now.
Following on from the practice, making some assumptions
I will be at Cranwell for the arrival of the 4 Texan's on Wednesday and Waddo for the P-8
Then Marham for the departure of the F-35's and Hawk's Thursday Morning.
This is pure guess work .
If anyone knows different
Please let us know

Thanks in advance
Pete

Marham is open 8am - 2pm suggesting the Hawks may operate from there as they did on the practice, I don't think anyone knows for sure at this moment in time.
