New wings for A10s.

Each wing set consists of outer wing assemblies, center wing assembly, control surfaces, and a fuselage integration kit designed to extend an A-10’s service life to 10,000 flight hours from about 8,000 hours, and possibly well beyond.

It might be a smart idea to crack on and get half a dozen fitted out with these new wings and shipped over to Poland. Are there any already stationed in Europe? If not, why not I wonder.

There's 10 already in Europe, 4 in Norway and the other 6 in Ramstein I believe. It is believed another 12 are heading to Europe tomorrow.

The USAF have already fitted new wings to 173 A-10C, this is a follow on order to do more.

I don’t suppose the US would consider permanently basing a couple of A-10 squadrons in Europe again would they, given the horrific situation in Ukraine?

I doubt it given they can deploy quickly and easily from CONUS.

Apparently Ukraine does NOT want to be given a10s.

Throughout the course of the Russo-Ukrainian War, the US has offered to send - and has sent - an array of weapons and equipment to the Ukrainian military. Calls for additional resources continue to come in, with the Ukrainian Air Force asking for modern Western aircraft. The US Air Force recently said it's willing to send a portion of its Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II fleet, something that hasn't impressed Ukraine's minister of defence.

I dont believe for a second the american goverment offered the A10. Its not like a car where you can jump in and off you go. Some say its basic compared to the high end fighters of today, in my mind its disrespectful to the A10 community and the skill and dedication to all who fly the hog.
