Also a shame it never made it to RIAT Fairford, except for that pathetic single pass in that Naval Pageant thingy!
It attended RIAT three times, static in 2002 while still wearing the drone scheme, static again in 2003 wearing the God awful Red Bull scheme, nope I didn't like it, and finally at 40000 feet as part of the 2009 Royal Navy massed flypast.

Arriving at Fairford in 2002

Great shame it never took part in the display as a solo item however.

I remember seeing it display in the Red Bull scheme about that time....

If not Fairford, might it have been Cosford?

I know it was great to see it airborne, regardless of the paintwork!

Thanks for the info' Mark. Still causes me brain-ache that although registered G-CVIX (Reg1) to DHA at Bournemouth on 26th Feb 1996, that it was only delivered to Swansea (at the second? attempt) on 02/08/1996. I wonder why it didn't go direct to Bournemouth? I don't recall what happened to it in those possibly 3 years before it physically flew to its long-term Bournemouth home. Your copied CAA doc's clearly show the 'Private Ownership' news aspect of that delivery to Swansea wasn't strictly accurate!
Thanks also to Caper' for the info & photo's. Sorry I didn't clarify 'RIAT in the RN. Scheme' & tbh I had forgotten the Red Bull schemed visit..... which I'm sure you wish you could too? :'( :'(

putting a red bull scheme on that aircraft was like throwing paint on the mona lisa (to some extent  )

If they hadn't put that Red Bull scheme on it, it wouldn't have flown as long as it did!

Just glad I got to see so much of the Sea Vixen flying when it was based down here, and Jonathon Whalley's low, low passes when leaving Hurn for the last time were something to behold!

Yes, and when he landed at Yeovilton for the hand-over ceremony, he burst a tyre and fried the brakes as he was too fast on approach, bounced twice and managed to bring it to a stop!

I'm pretty sure it was his last flight before retiring, so he went out in style.
