How To Tell Apart Juno/Jupiter Squadrons?
How To Tell Apart Juno/Jupiter Squadrons?
So at Shawbury, there are various helicopter training squadrons spanning all 3 branches. My question is, how do you tell whos who from the exterior? Considering they all look the same.

OK the Sqns use all helis with no division, Jupiters look bigger than Juno's but also the Jupiters are numbered ZM496-ZM502, Juno's are numbered ZM504-ZM532. Both types have the last 2 of the serial on the tail(both sides) and on the nose.
But at least 4 Jupiters are flown at Valley, Juno's only go to Valley for passenger transfer if a Jupiter has been returned to Shawbury for maint or delivered to Valley after maint.

There are obvious differences if you look at the two together. Plenty on the web if you want to look further.
Re: How To Tell Apart Juno/Jupiter Squadrons?
I think the original question was how to identify which squadrons each helicopter was from (60sq, 660sq, 670sq, 705sq) rather than the Juno/Jupiter differences? Always assumed they operate as one big pooled fleet?
Re: How To Tell Apart Juno/Jupiter Squadrons?
I think they all use the same aircraft, best way to work it out would be seeing the rank slides of the crew if you have a big enough camera. I'm not sure callsigns are linked to operating branch either, I think they are just used by everyone

I visit Shawbury frequently and you can't tell the sqns apart as there are no individual crests or sqn badges. I'm also sure the aircraft are shared so as the previous post has noted you may need to see the actual crew. It's a shame though that no individual identification cannot be added
Re: How To Tell Apart Juno/Jupiter Squadrons?
Seeing aircrew patches don't help as they sometimes fly other Sqns sorties, even knowing their callsigns sometimes doesn't help/
Re: How To Tell Apart Juno/Jupiter Squadrons?
The Juno fleet starts with ZM504, noted earlier this week on ADSBExchangePi wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 7:21 pmOK the Sqns use all helis with no division, Jupiters look bigger than Juno's but also the Jupiters are numbered ZM496-ZM502, Juno's are numbered ZM505-ZM532. Re: How To Tell Apart Juno/Jupiter Squadrons?
H145 tad larger than H135 for starters
also look at the engine cowling see the difference

202 and 60 squadron use H145
Also guess look zoom into the squadron badges on H135 and H145 to see whom they belong to
cheers
Re: How To Tell Apart Juno/Jupiter Squadrons?
What squadron badges? Don't they carry the crest of DHFS?
Re: How To Tell Apart Juno/Jupiter Squadrons?
DHFS was disbanded a long time ago its now 1 FTS so just a 1 FTS badge on rear fuselage
