"Green councillor..." says it all. Let's ban everything that only benefits a deal number of people. Ban enjoyment, happiness and pleasure. Am I allowed a soapbox, if so I'll put it away.

Apparently it's because the noise could frighten animals and some people. In that case, I'm sure the massed skirl of the bagpipes is going to be affected as well. Can't see that being banned though.

Re: Edinburgh Tattoo Flypasts To Be Banned?
Maybe the objectors of Edinburgh would like to consider that the MOD could also withdraw all army and visiting military participants as well, possibly not allow the castle to be used ! That would go down well with the people who rely on the event to make a living.
Perhaps we should let Scotland have its independence, close Lossiemouth and put the Typhoons at Leeming and the P8 into Waddington and Boscombe Down.
There is also plenty of space in our shipyards to host the displaced Navy .

I'm surprised that the one o'clock gun isn't being considered for being too noisy.

Earlier this year, Edinburgh City Coucil announced that they had instructed the Army to start firing 'quieter' shells from the Castle gun for the one o'clock salute, citing 'health and safety' issues. Luckily, Grant Shapps, the Defence Secretary, intervened in late March to stop the change, but with the upcoming change of government it remains to be seen if the Council will nake another attempt to enforce the change.
The Council had already stopped the New Year's Eve fireworks display last year, and I'd be suprised if that returns eturns in future,

Typical of modern society, send in the fun sponge and then the morale-hoover to collect any remnants.
Critically observing Pension regulatory activity...

Re: Edinburgh Tattoo Flypasts To Be Banned?
It has occurred to me in the past and recently, what will the new Labour government's position be on the likes of RIAT? and other airshows? Should the same mindset which now complains about mental health being at risk from a sedate flypast over Auld Reekie, start looking around for something of tradition and which "promotes the arms industry" and presents far more robust flying for public consumption, to ban? We are currently living through an era in which nuerotic mawkishness has seized the souls of many people, this is the very thing which the liberal left love to weave their concerns around. Somebody in Edinburgh some years back joined the protest against the flypast for the Tattoo by complaining that she thought WW3 was underway. This sort of nonsense is entirely confected of course, I believe the modern description is gaslighting!

PS Mods, this isthe fourth time I've made this post, each of the others has been vanished without an explanation, if I've over stepped the bounds of decency and moderation, well no one has been in touch to explain why? I trust either one will be forth coming otherwise I can expect this post to be retaiined on the thread this time. Unless of course there is a spurious technical fault?

This one will be retained as it's the only one of the four that might not see the thread descend into a politically charged slanging match that I would have had to spend my evening sorting out

Steven,
I would have accepted the moderato's ruling had you simply contacted me to explain wht was happening rather than leaving me to think either mysterious entities were at work or I was going mad or both. As for politcal slanging matches, I had enough of the very onesided bias in that regard on another forum. I should think my post is no more inflammatory than other comments so far, and in line.

Simply not enough time to provide everybody with an explanation when posts are deleted, unfortunately.
This post doesn’t seem to be too inflammatory hence why it’s been retained. It’s nothing personal I’d just rather have a peaceful evening.

Aah! Yes! The going mad syndrome

As recipient of the “chop” many times, it is now SOP to take a screenshot in order to preserve my sanity. Not of course that I post anything that I consider controversial, however it would seem that Mods sometimes do

Christ. It’s embarrassing that the vote of these wetwipes is equal to ours. The ignorance of the public never fails to surprise me whether it’s concerning military or railway matters in particular!
