Russian aircraft drone attack

Post by reheat » Sun Jun 01, 2025 3:27 pm

Looks like the Russkies have lost at least 40 aircraft after being attacked at their air bases by Ukrainian drones operated by their Special Forces. Embarrassing for Vladie the baddie to say the least.
Regards,

Steve.

That'll be TU-22M, neither side would be worried about losing a few Fitters

Great job by Ukraine. A wake up call for all the major powers here regarding defending against drone attacks.

Superb. That should have seriously degraded Russia’s capability.

Pure example of planning and execution - just reading about 18 months of putting Op ‘Spidersweb’ on the front pages.

Its still russians v russians for me but surely we need Putin and Moscow defeated and Zelenskyy and Co in the EU/NATO ?

Trump needs to change his nappy and perspective quickly.

Mr P won't take it lying down though. He'll want to pay back in kind unfortunately.

Drones are completely changing warfare, not hard to imagine an enemy of the US knocking out 40 B-52s from a couple of trucks like that! I wonder what Putin's response will be?

Unfortunately it will be innocent civilians who will no doubt lose their lives in response. We know VP won’t be thinking of anything as strategic and tactical.

So no change there then. That’s largely what they’ve been doing for the last 1193 days of their 3 day special military operation.

Article up on twz.

https://www.twz.com/news-features/russi ... one-attack

I’ve been following this with interest on x. The Russian Shahed drone attacks on Kyiv in 2022 felt like a turning point, the start of a new era in warfare and I’ve felt the same about today’s events. The scale and the results of the operation are very impressive (I’ve been waiting a while for the news of a Tu-95 being scratched) but also concerning as Western air forces have the same vulnerabilities.

NATO needs to be Very careful and not run in - all blazing, the Peace conference is today and all sides need to be locked in a room till Peace comes out from the meeting.

Remember - Any escalation that could involve nukes will lead to a World Destruction scenario.

I've seen some clips online of the TU95's being attacked. It looked like there were tyres on the wings upper surfaces, that right? If yes, why, what for?

Thanks for the link, doesn't appear to have been effective against this attack.

Professional FPV drone pilot here, some of the flying shown, often with no visual signal, is absolutely incredible.

That's like driving but being given a snap shot of the road every 2 seconds and going by memory.

Nice one lads,

Slava Ukraini!
