MOD shuts down UFO Investigation Unit

Post by Dunk » Fri Dec 04, 2009 7:05 pm

MOD has shut down its UFO Investigation Unit, saving a whole £44,000 a year! The Hotline and email contact address where shut down on the 1st Dec.

They say there has been no threat to the UK in over 50 years, and besides Britains skies are watched 24/7 and that RAF Fighter Jets will protect us from any legitimate threat...

Maybe the MOD should look at Number 10, thers an idiot in there who is definately not from this planet! :P

Not a wasted effort when you think who reported the most interesting sightings! Although many of the sightings could be explained the sightings by Aircrew were some of the most interesting.

Also remember the time period when the unit was set up? The time frame during the Cold War with the question arising whether these sightings were of defence significance? The Soviets releaved that they too had a unit which investigated the phenomenon. Both military pacts each side of the Iron Curtain were paranoid that the other side had a technological advantage. It was only logical that each side took a keen interest of what was reported in their airspace.

Of interest is the two covert aircraft types (text and images) that have been edited out in the section covering.

Is one of the edited out types the aircraft that Chris Gibson saw in 1989? The aircraft was in formation with a KC-135 flanked by two F-111s. I used to serve with Chris in the Royal Observer Corps during the 1980s. Chris was a true expert in aircraft recognition, yet here was an aircraft type that completely stumped him.
