Helicopter Boys by Richard Pike.
Helicopter Boys is the latest addition to Grub Street's Boys series from acclaimed
author Richard Pike, exploring the role of helicopters in military and civilian
situations. With fourteen contributors, Helicopter Boys contains many accounts
of the diverse nature of helicopter operations.
From the dramatic war scenes during the Indo/Pakistan war which saw one pilot's
action earn him a VrC gallantry award to the Chinook pilots on board the Atlantic
Conveyor during the Falklands War. Then there are civilian tales from the rescue
missions in the outer Hebrides to being a pilot across the world in such places as
Australia and Nigeria. There is also a focus on the Piper Alpha disaster in 1988
which saw the loss of 167 lives. The book ends with Pike's experiences in Kosovo,
helping to distribute emergency humanitarian aid on behalf of the United Nations
World Food Program shortly after the war ended in 1999. Each story is told with
great detail conveying the action and excitement that the helicopter pilots
experienced with each operation. The scope, flair and pace of the writing in this
book will appeal to the general reader as well as the enthusiast.

Lawrence Colby's sequel to the Devil Dragon Pilot is out 1st December. The Black Scorpion Pilot is a darn good read (got a pre-release PDF to read and review on Amazon from the author) and is well worth picking up when it comes out.

Another book about the Vulcan came out last month called The Avro Vulcan. I'm sorry to say from what I read about it this has been done before and about 50 times over, with the history and development and black & white photos etc. If someone else is looking to bring a book out about the Vulcan in the future I just hope they will do it from a different approach. Maybe just concentrate on the 70's and its days in that era, rather than keep going over the same old ground!!

Re: Aviation Books to read
Thanks Roughcutter. As it happens I found a copy in Swansea "Works" on Thursday. For those interested they also had copies of Victors Boys (only 1), Meteor Boys, Valiant Boys, Vulcan Boys, Tornado Boys and Phantom Boys.
It's not the store in the town centre but the one on the Fforestfach retail park for anyone wanting any of those editions

Rather enjoying the "Boys" series of books from Grub Street (the ones that The Works are selling for £6 in store & online).
They seem to fluctuate in on what they have in but managed to get a few.
Meteor Boys was interesting, most notably for me the use of the aircraft (I won't say anymore though as I won't spoil it).
