Airfix Lightning 1:48 scale

Post by boz558 » Mon Jul 29, 2013 8:53 am

Hi

Going to start the RAF Lightning F6 build but need to be sure of the colour scheme for the underside of the aircraft in 1978, looked at a lot of pictures and can't work out if it's all silver or aluminium, any help greatly appreciated.

Silver and bare aluminium. Most of the lower surfaces were left un-painted, but the ventral tank, undercarriage doors and lower surfaces of the tailplanes were painted silver.
One of the jobs we had to do on a Check 3 Service was to polish all of the natural metal areas, including both intakes with Wadpol, a product a bit like heavy duty Duraglit.
