Airfix 2024

Post by seven » Tue Jan 09, 2024 7:27 pm

Alot more positive than expected from Airfix so far this year:
1/72 newly tooled Chinook and B-24H.
1/48 Bristol Bulldog.

Also some new tools in the starter set range, Bf 109F and P-51, Lifeboat(class slips mind) and Typhoon FGR.4-this was greatly needed IMO, as selling the old tool in a gift set is just embarrassing!

Only 1/35 scale new releases are in the Quickbuild range, stunning success that'll be. Also they are correcting the wheel nut issue with the next Cromwell boxing.

Also a fair few additions to the Vintage range, Hawker P.1127, Belvedere and Hampden* too name a few.

Hints at every angle that there'll be more announcements throughout the year, I'm guessing the 1/35 and 1/48 ranges will get those.

*Eff you too all those who were asking for a new tool Hampden..

1/48 Bulldog is an interesting choice. Re-release of the 1/48 Chipmunk, I wonder what colour schemes it'll come with? Box art shows IAC, perhaps Portuguese or Danish? Is the 1/72 Jet Provost a new tooling? I'd have thought that would've been a good choice for 1/48 myself. Would a 1/24 Swordfish would sort the men out from the boys?

The JP was new as of a few years ago, just a new set of decals. Great kit though, we'll worth a punt.

I think a 1/24 Swordfish would generate more complaints about the price than actual sales
