Hi,

Im looking for some advice. In the last few years i have taken up modelling again and im seriously considering purchasing an airbrush.

Can someone please advise what i will all need to purchase i.e Airbrush/compressor etc and also what type would you reccomend.

Basically any advice would be appreciated

In all honesty, a starter set like this would be ideal. Everything in here you need, regulated air supply(quite important!) with moisture trap.
The brush itself looks simillar to the one I use. That was only a £30 one, and I have no trouble with it!

After advice on the net(here and UKAR i think), i bought the AS-186 compressor/airbrush set, the one in the link but with an air tank as advice pointed to tankless compressors suffer from pulsing. Being a tight fisted Scot, i only bought one airbrush but have never looked back. Am looking at the BD-135 airbrush for the future as well.

Thats a point, your right there Geoff. I forgot about the 'pulsing' issue!

Thanks all for taking the time to post, that was exactly the advice i was looking for. In one of the modelling magazines recently (cant remember which one) they were reviewing many different airbrushes but they all seemed to be incredibly expensive brushes and i was not sure if i had to shell out that amount of money for a decent brush. Im hoping to purchase one this weekend now (as long as my missus does not get wind of this)

i think the 1 thing that has put me off the airbrush is the cleaning afterwards - how difficult is this?
