Which airbrush?

Which airbrush?
I am thinking of purchasing an airbrush, preferably under about 50 pounds. I don't really want to buy a big compressor, so what would I use instead of that? I have read about the Premi Air G35 airbrush on another post, could you use that one for fine work as well as airbrushing the whole aircraft? Any tips on which airbrush to buy will help, thanks.
Re: Which airbrush?
Thanks, I think I will probably get the G35, but is there any alternative for a compressor? I have seen you can get a can sort of thing?
Re: Which airbrush?
I wouldn't waste your time with cans. They're expensive, don't last particularly long, and don't give you a consistent flow of air. If you're planning to regularly airbush then I can only recommend investing in a compressor. You'll save money in the long run and will get a much better flow of air. Compressors with tanks are the ones to go for as the tank negates any pulsing in the air line. Mine cost around £80 and is faultless, definitely the way to go.

Okay thanks, is it really worth getting the airbrush and compressor for about 90 pounds, or should I just stick with a paintbrush? I am about to build the Revell 1/72 Lancaster, and I have a few other models, F15, Mustang, and a Harrier waiting to be built, all 1/72, would an airbrush make it a lot easier?

Re: Which airbrush?
After seeing some of the finishes people on here and other sites were getting with their airbrushes, i took the plunge just after xmas and have never looked back! Depending on how you do the camo, it may take a bit longer but i was finding i was brushing 2 or 3 coats of enamel when with the airbrush is done in one sitting.LightningGoose wrote:Okay thanks, is it really worth getting the airbrush and compressor for about 90 pounds, or should I just stick with a paintbrush? The combo i went for is the AS-186 compressor with tank and i think a BD-128 airbrush.
