Back at it - Airfix FW-190 A8 1:72

Post by Rotörhead » Wed Aug 05, 2015 8:12 pm

After a few years of all of my models gathering dust, I decided to do what anyone else in that situation would do, which was obviously to buy another new model and leave the other old ones to gather more dust

Bought new paints and brushes for this one, with the intention of taking my time over it and doing it well

Cockpit done, all details painted on apart from the instruments - always find this to be my favourite part of any build

Camo on the fuselage was a bit of a pain to paint, tried to dry brush the mottled darker camo on, didn't go exactly to plan but I think it's okay

Naturally, glueing the two sides together was a total pain hahaha

Now, does anyone know a good way of doing the spiral on the propeller cone?

Hi Oli :P

My nephew bought me this kit last Xmas and I have not started it yet

I presume this is the new tooling edition, so I will watch and pick up tips

Keep it up, buddy

Ahh yeah, seems like a good kit although I'm finding a few parts aren't easily going together, I've had to hold off for the time being because I need to get a clamp for the fuselage to be glued together properly - we'll see how it goes though :)

Finally got round to finding a way to get the fuselage together and looking half decent

Just decided to go for it and try and hand paint it, looks alright!

Looks like I'll get back into model making now as I've just bought a 1/48 Wessex haha

Final update...
All together ready for decals

And the finished model

All in all, a relatively straightforward build which was good fun - the snake transfer was a pain to apply well as well as a lot of small bits of writing which were sometimes on top of other transfers and tricky to apply. Next task - Revell 1/48 Wessex HAS 3
