Thanks guys, I'll try the tack to start with!

Another question - I'm really pleased with the Hobby Masters I have got (the only make I own), should I ever choose to buy another make (Century Wings or Sky Guardians) would they look very different from the HB models?

That will be my last question. This is starting to cost me some serious dough!! :thumb:

Hi Pete,

Probably don`t need to tell you that when collecting diecast it simply is a case of what ever floats your boat and falls into what areas you want to collect in. For instance, Hobymaster`s Vietnam models are IMPO the best around while Centry Wings do the best USN collection. I think they compliment each other very well.

Done a couple of comparison shots for you here. Again if collecting F-4 Phantoms always go for HM. Corgi`s were good for their time but need to be updated. Here is a HM F-4 compared to the CW A-7. One thing that strikes you straight away are the white panel lines on the A-7. The flash from the camera highlights these very well, but when sitting in my display cabinet you hardly notice them.

Again IMPO, these models go very well together.

Next is the HM A-4 and a CW F-14. Both wear the same `grey` scheme and the only real difference in them is in the detail with the F-14. CW are very good when it comes to this area, but again, the HM A-4 compliments the F-14 very well.

As for Skyguardians/Witty Wings, in a previous post I posted pics of a FW 190 which has fitted into the type of scheme I wanted for my collection, however the model is not quite as good as Corgi`s versions, but Corgi have not yet released a sheme that falls into what I wanted. No doubt at some time in the future they will and my present Fw-190 will go to the great bone yard in the loft.

Hope some of this helps in your future collecting.

That's a great help Tony, thanks for taking the time to do those shots. :thumb:

Looks like I will be spending some more cash in the very near future. I've bought 7 in the last week! Ouch.. I'm looking at the Corgi Canberra target-tug. Looks pretty good to me! :S

Cheers,

Pete.

No probs Pete.

Just be aware that most, if not all the Corgi Canberra`s, are reported as `tail sitters`. If you want to display them on their U/C`s you get a clear plastic `tail stand` to go with it which looks a bit nasty IMPO . May be best to wait and see if Corgi release a new model with the corrected weight balance, (thats what I`m doing), or if you can`t wait display it in flight on it`s stand. :thumb:

A bit bored tonight so I thought I`d do an update on the old metal collection. Got some new stuff, sold some old stuff and gained a few `fakes`....!
A bit of a mix and match set these days, as space becomes an issue.

Thanks Andy.

I do have an old IXO 1/72 Ju-87 `tank buster` that is surplus to requirements and sitting in the `boneyard`. Not sure what to do with that one? ;)

Hi Jaime,

Have to say they are probably the best pics of this bit of metal I`ve seen. :) :thumb:

The Witty F.3 has the distinction of being the most hated bit of diecast released this year over on `DAF` for wide and various reasons.

IMPO, it don`t look too bad and as it`s the only game in town, it`s a must have if you need to fill a hole in your collection. I`m waiting for another scheme to emerge and some of the problems reported with it, corrected. (Even better if HM or Skymax release their own version in the not too distant future).

A `firebirds` special tail scheme is the next release in this line. ;)

Thank you for your kind words!! :thumb: :thumb:
The only reason I bought it was because it was 111 sqn!! But I am very keen on the fact to increase my 111sqn collection!!
I am really happy with the model and think it is a jolly goood buy!! The sound of a Firebirds special sounds very gooood!!! :Wow:

Thanks again mate!!!
Cheers

My pleasure mate. At the end of the day as long as the owner of the model likes it, then as far as I`m concerned, it`s job done. ;) Too many `rivet counters` on forums these days getting upset because a `lump or bump` is missing from underneath the model which makes it an `F` instead of a `E` which you wouldn`t have noticed in the first place unless it was pointed out...... (you get the idea). The Witty F.3 is one of these cases.

To me it looks fine and like I said before, once a 1435 Flight machine with the Maltese Cross is released, I`ll be joining you. :thumb:

Has anybody got any collections of the Corgi Fit The Box Aircraft or Matchbox Skybusters along with others in that size? These are the size I've had to resort to collecting due to financial and space reasons - am really pleased with my collection which I am sorting out into an Air Force and Airline. Would really love to know if Corgi or Matchbox or any one else are planning to release a Nimrod MR.2 from Kinloss, TSR.2 or Hawker Hunter in that small size?
