I think having a small Diecast section would be a great idea Viper. :thumb: Diecast collecting is becoming a big thing nowadays for those of us who just don`t have the time to fiddle with little bits of plastic.

Of course, providing I`m not breaking any rules with this info, anyone can go to the Aviation Diecast Forum and have a look around.

Well, I know some of you die hard `plastic fans` may have nasty thoughts about us `metal heads` :P  , but as it`s a new section I thought I would start the ball rolling and post some pics of my diecast collection. Got well over 100 models now and here are a select few all in their relevent themes.

Impressive collection!
I only have two 1/72 diecast (I'll try to post a picture tomorrow) but about 15 or 20 at the 1/400 scale (still boxed up due to lack of display possibilities).
Cheers

Andy

Hobbymaster. You can get these on Ebay quite easily at the moment but you may want to hold off for a bit as Hobbymaster are going to release a second RAF Harrier in the near future that will be even more acurate so I`m told.

That is impressive, please excuse my ignorance as I don't know much about diecasts but what is a 'code 3' is it the make or a specification

Many thanks, I never thought of doing that to one of those but I do it all the time to my kits with resin's,brass and decals. This is more interesting than I gave credit for. I hope we will see some more on here

Here's a small selection of my diecasts. While the majority of them (1/400 scale) is "stashed away" in file cabinets due to insufficient display space, my only two 1/72 scale and 1/500 AWACS made it into a small mirror/glass display case.

I realized that it's kind of difficult to photograph into a mirror display case with a flash light  - all those were done with a point and shoot a while ago. Just came across them again tonight. One day I hope to be able to display my entire 1/400 diecast collection but I'm lacking the necessary display case and floor space at this time.

Thanks for looking
cheers

Andy

I like the Herpa AWACS collection - I've been tempted by the small die-casts, but not the prices!

The Corgi Buccaneer range is excellent, I have all eight which I must dust and photograph - it's a shame there isn't one with folded wings.

Thanks Rob, appreciate your reply.
I actually prefer Dragon Wings or Gemini but till today Herpa is the only one that has made the AWACS in 25th Anniversary livery. But I agree, the prices are ridicolous. I was after a 1/400 C-5 Galaxy and those prices are just astronomical these days. The Bucc certainly has something... "next" on my list is a Canberra (sure wish Corgi would to a PR9) and a F-104.
Cheers
Andy

Been banging on about a PR.9 on DAF for ages now. Seems the mould would need too many modifacations to it to become economicaly viable for Corgi. :( Would have thought that they would have made provisions to do PR.9 after they had finished with the existing mould..? Oh well.

Like the Bucc too, but again the modifactions needed for a folding wings version are too much. However, a `fixed` version with folded wings may be a good idea. Think another company has done something like this with the F-4U Corsair?

Anyway, old`ish release, but newest aquisition for my display. (couldn`t deciede between this and the nightfighter version)
