1/72 Tornado GR.4
Decided to get another kit out of storage.
I have chosen the GR.4 as it is a personal favourite of mine. I have done about 1/4 of the detail painting on the sprues and a little bit of building.

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
Progress has recently slowed down due to spotting trips and holidays.
It now looks like a GR.4 in almost complete colours.
Here is where progress is now plus how it got to this stage.
This photo shows it without the canopy. Decided to take the photo while waiting for the detail on the canopy to dry.

Detailing and colour scheme is now taking place nicely.

Which kit was this? Revell?

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
It is a Revell Tornado GR.1 converted to the GR.4 with Hannants extra decals.

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
That's the Italeri kit. The Revell Tornado is a much nicer kit than the Italian interpretation. And that most definately is not it.

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
I can assure you that this is the Revell kit.
Here is the front of the instructions.

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
Well, the cockpit tub certainly isn't the revell one i have in the stash.
Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
That is the correct instructions but that is NOT the Revell kit. The cockpit is a seperate section in the Revell tooling, and split vertically with very good detail throughout. As opposed to the Italian attept with its complete fuselage split horizontally, and poor attempt at a cockpit, which is clearly seen on your WIP. Trust me i have multiples of both kits in my stash and at work!

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
What are the odds of opening a brand new Revell kit and the insides a Italeri.

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
Guess there is a chance of it being an older version?
If i remember correctly revell boxed a version of the italeri tornado f3.or vice versa?

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
That's very possibe as Tamiya did that with the Italeri version

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
As i recall Revell have not reboxed the IDS version of the Italeri kit, only the ADV, which as you mentioned also has been done by Tamiya-3 in my stash!
If you bought this new and unopened with that kit inside it I'd very much not use that shop again!

Re: 1/72 Tornado GR.4
This is indeed an old Italeri rebox by Revell of the GR1 which I see you've updated to GR4.
