I think they were built by one of the museum staff. I'm not quite that good yet...

Small update

I put the fuselage serials on the silver jets today and having got sidetracked while doing two of them, I now realise the serials aren't lined up with the roundel.

Edit : I stripped the offending items off... One with Pledge Multi surface wax which all have on as a coat of varnish, that worked somewhat better than white spirit on the other (cue rear fuselage re-spray)

Evening

Small amount of progress, as I hate applying all the tiny decals, and thankfully Canberra's were not plastered in the things.

Getting there slowly.

Anyone else doing a Canberra?

Got your work cut out there Tim, but they're coming on really good.
Do love your T19 - must have another go at one - not sure where the 1/100 scale one I completed an age ago disappeared to.
Keep at 'em
Cheers

Cheers Keith

I left the walk/don't walk lines off the top of the wings and planned to add them after the dayglo. Oooops I have just spotted that they really should have gone on first

EDIT : I found a solution for the above, instead of using all decals. Paint them and use decals for the rest.

The biggest problem is that there is almost a lack of reference for these, if only we had digital in the 1960s

A shot from last night prior to painting walk/don't walk lines

.....

I will fill the remainder with the few bits of decals I have and having put a coat of pledge multi surface wax on, I discovered paint comes of easier if I have got it slightly wrong

Ok, I have nearly finished them, its just down to the small little decals and the odd antennae etc, assuming I do leave them as they are. I was wondering if anyone has a photo of WD948 when it was R of 100 Sqn in the 1970s before it went back to 85 Sqn and a fiery end at Manston?

Apart from that its another coat of varnish and then I might attempt the weathering process.

Hi Keith

Cheers that would be good, I might do a bit of a change on 948, as it was the oldest airworthy RAF Canberra till it went to the CTE at Manston.

WD955 then took the awards for that of course (for those of us that remember the days when there were plenty of Canberras at Wyton

I was too young to see them at Binbrook, Cottesmore, Marham and West Raynham :(

Go easy on the weathering. I was at West Raynham for ATC summer camp in 1975, I was struck at the time at how clean the Canberras were, especially the red & white T4s. Nice models.

Thanks Sparts99

Indeed of all the photos I have seen of Canberras in service there were very few that got a bit grubby. And they were mainly the light aircraft grey jets it seems!

As mentioned elsewhere in the modelling section several of these don't currently look so good....

Attempting to photograph these together with little space available

So project stalled till darker nights are back

I see Airfix are re-releasing the B.2 kit for 2016

So over the xmas holidays, I am going to have another look at the ones I damaged while trying to photograph them in the summer. And as I managed to find a couple of kits down in London, some of the above may not see the light of day again. :ninja:

EDIT : After some long and hard thinking I am attempting to rectify the known faults of the Airfix kit. That does however mean I am going to need something to use for trials. Apart from some panel lines that are wrong, they have missing others and some bits are in the wrong place as well !

So you can consider this thread closed  :ninja:

Summer update

Sorry Folks - The scrapman cometh!! Or rather the bin man does

Major clear out time and only the two above survive now WD948 intact, WJ640 less so. Two kits I attempted to modify... Less said the better!!

Someday I will start a new post when I get it a bit better at scribbing panel lines and corrective plastic surgery
