I forgot to mention that when I used the Squadron filler I found that, if you use a little liquid cement mixed in makes it easier to use as otherwise it dries to quickly and means more wet and dry work!

I found that little tip in a pile of aviation modelling mags liberated from the old employers office :ninja:

Spraying - airbrush or rattle can? There are lots of metal colours out there - I can help if you need it!

Hi Steve,

I have a £30 airbrush kit which worked well with the previous batch, so am thinking its humbrol paint which was fairly new (I think).

Morning all

Progress is slow but they are getting there, all 4 are standing on wheels and I have used the new version of Klear successfully on the B(I).8
the only stalling point is that although I did get hold of some of the model alliance different serial decals. I'm short of the versions that I need to do these kits.

I could nick them from the other jets I want to do  , but meanwhile I am on the hunt for more decals, and kits as well

I will finish them someday.

Cheers Glyn,

I will have a look for that at some point now that I have gained another 4 B.2 kits, one of which will be converted to a TT.18 and another to a T.19.

Another update

Progress is slow, on the three remaining B.2s while I sort out the decals situation, I have resoted to using white rounded serials and either painting them very carefully by hand or making templates and spraying large serials on under the wings. Meanwhile the B(I).8 had a nasty take off accident so won't make the long journey to completion

I am going to take some more pics this weekend, to show I am getting there.

Re: Canberras nearly there.....

Post by Vulcanone » Sun Apr 19, 2015 6:47 pm

After numerous disasters and things that did and more than usually didn't work, I am nearly at an end with the various Canberras I started

I started the models originally with the aim of going from hand painting to airbrushing (or using rattle cans) and this was originally started after an Airfix B(I).6 I did painted by hand looked a bit rough.

I have yet to photograph them as some of the decals are currently wet. Sorry if the WIP bit has gone out the window.

After several fun attempts to do the dreaded walk here/don't walk here strips on top of the wings I gave up on them.

Patience what patience :grr: :@

So I could either try masking them and painting black lines or just forget them :ninja:

All the first batch are out of the box with some filler, and sprayed in Humbrol Light Aircraft Grey, or Halford own silver

First up a survivor from an original mass build attempt from early 2013 will be finished as WD948 85 Sqn B.2 RAF Binbrook circa 1971/72 retired to Manston in 1976?

Next up three of four from late 2013 - This represents WH878 85 Sqn B.2 at Binbrook November 1970 -retired to St Athan in early 1972

I cant tell from the photo in the Midland counties Canberra book if it had more dayglo on it (anyone know?)

Next up a conversion to a T.19 (it almost worked) WK106 100 Sqn Marham 1976 - Broken up 1977

Another one unmarked early 1970s WJ640 B.2

A batch started last year, also out of the box with e a little filler here and not quite there. And sprayed in Halfords Star Silver for Audis or VWs IIRC I don't have the can handy....!

WJ625 B.2 100 Sqn circa 1958

WJ630 B.2 45 Sqn early 1960s

WK131 B.2 57 Sqn late 1950s

And finally WH973 B.6 9 Sqn circa 1956/57 IIRC

Some work still to do on all 8, at least they have made it other have been sacrificed in the learning process. I must thank several people for continued support, and the odd bit of advice.... I probably need to get a round in for them

Over to you what do you think comments and so on welcome.....

Hello Ferrari

All of them are the Airfix B.2, I used the Alleycat/A2Z conversion set for the T.19 .

Cheers

Thanks Tim. I made an Airfix Canberra about 30 years ago and really enjoyed it.

At a 'Cockpitfest' at Newark several years ago there were loads of 1/72nd Canberras - perhaps you contributed?

Cheers,
Ferrari
