Personally, I like the shark mouth 'dog.

But I am bias as the F-86 is my favourite aircraft and I like them in any scheme :halo:

I did the Shark mouth one and it does look quite nice, but naturally the choice is yours :thumb:

1/72 Tamiya BF109E-4/7 Trop

Post by Seamus » Sun Oct 24, 2010 10:43 pm

Hi guys,

Wasn't sure if I'd be able to commit to the competition, but it seems I've got some time to fit in a cheeky build to join in with. Nothing too extravagant from me, in fact it'll be a rather run of the mill BF109E-4/7 Trop. I'll be using the 1/72 Tamiya kit, which will be finished totally OOB in desert camo, just to be a little different seeing as BoB 109s are all the rage at the moment.

So, here's first progress having today finished off the cockpit. Being Tamiya, the detail is excellent, and it's been a joy so far. Ive actually used this as a bit of a test bed for a larger 109 project, and have tried my hand at new weathering methods using pigments, which I'm relatively pleased with.

Dryfitting shows flawless fit, so it won't be long before she's ready for paint

Comments welcomed as ever

Cheers

Shaun :)

It's a shame that lectures keep getting in the way of this build - I'm never finding a decent amount of time to sit down and get this started!

All the bits are here - I've assembled one afterburner can, and started prepping the cockpit for the photoetch and then airbrushing. :)

Me and the 160 have had a falling out! :( :grr: I am putting it on hold for a bit to have another crack at it in a better frame of mind! :pop: Bit of an incident involving, paint, carpet, Tu160 not seeming to cooperate! I will get something sorted though! :thumb:

I have some good news and some bad news...

Good news is that the TU160 will live on! I will still have her finished for the comp :thumb:

Bad news is I have had to track down a whole new model to do it! :grr: The incident involving it is unrecoverable but It does mean I can use some parts...

I will hopefully be at the stage I was at by next week :thumb: :thumb:
