PR1XC Spitfire BF273 (BS273) 1:32 Revell

Post by cj9ru » Thu Oct 07, 2021 5:32 pm

My latest........ It doesn't look so blue in the flesh. It is a very nice kit to do with decals from Hannants
Spitfire from the High Level Flight

BF273 is an interesting Spitfire for many reasons, starting with it’s serial number, which appears to be the result of the correct number, BS273, being misheard! Nonetheless, the letter ‘F’ was retained in the aircraft’s identity. (The same thing happened to BF274 which also carried the error throughout it's service career, including being used for various trials at Boscombe Down) (information from X Plane.org)

AST riw 24-6-43 453S 26-6-43 Shot down by fighters nr Cayeux 4-7-43 F/Sgt C Woodall killed (RIP)

BS273 was the first aircraft to be tried in the new role. Actually, the serial “BF273″ was applied during repaint due to an error on the part of the ground crew (this number was of a block assigned to Bristol Blenheims) (information from AllSpitfire Pilots)

Good work. What paint did you use? I've got a PR Blue Mosquito to tackle when I get the time.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.
