A few oldies !

A few oldies !
After seeing a post of an old Fouga Magister a few days ago in the Nostalgic Photographs section, I decided to hunt out the model that I had made many years ago of one as they were always a favourite. I also discovered a few other oldies, some dating back to the Louth Scale Model Club Competition in 1980 'Compex 80', judged by the late Alan Hall. (Only 41 years ago )
Hope you enjoy, its got me fired up again to restart some modelling as we move into GMT
My 'French Connection'
My Class winner 1/48 F104G from the KLu Volkel Wing 311/312Sqd, (Lost its stripey pitot)
Runner up in 1/48 A-10A (main gear wheels somewhere in the box)
Even scratch built the seat
My class winner 1/144 KC135A ANG (cargo door dropped off) The MicroSol varnish has discoloured to make it look like camo'
As another project at the time started to build an RC135
And living close to Binbrook just had to make an 11Sqdn. Lightning (lost its pitot)
Wouldn't a KC135 and RC135 or even an E3 be just perfect subjects for 1/144 now
Cheers

Hi Keith
You were a busy boy back in the day
I would have been amazed if there wasn’t at least 1 Frightning in your collection
Well done
Patrick

Very nice Keith

Minicraft do the KC135A/E/R and E-3 and there is a conversion for the RC-135 too albeit an RAF one which is hard to get now after Mel's passing
PM if you need anything
Cheers

Re: A few oldies !
Thanks for comments chaps, I can assure you that there are a few Lightnings in there ! I did do a few 1/100 Lightnings (can't remember make) as well as usual 1/72, just to save a bit of space. Had only been married a couple of years and the 'Management' preferred me with a larger paint brush in my hand
Re: A few oldies !
Likewise Kevin, after a French holiday in the late 70's and seeing Magisters, T-33s, and other French silver/dayglo types I was hooked on French Air Force.
My next effort will be a 1/48 Mirage IIIC in French desert camo from their operations in Djibouti. Recently found a Heller kit for that. I picked up in the 80's a French magazine 'Air Action' which featured stunning shots of the changeover of the IIIC's for F1C's in June 1988 and included air/air, and ramp shots in the desert of both models.
Thanks again

Re: A few oldies !
Thanks Paul for the update info, had lost touch with the Minicraft range. They certainly have a 'price ticket' on them here. Watched a YT review and was a bit surprised that despite new tooling they didn't include the option of the opening cargo door like my 'oldie'.PaulN wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 11:53 amVery nice Keith
