Starting 1st September - PR/ELINT/AEW GB

Post by tc2324 » Wed Aug 01, 2012 11:17 am

Ok chaps, a new thread for chat and disscussion about the upcoming PR/ELINT/AEW GB starting on the 1st Sept running for 3 months.

The Rules

1. Starts at 10pm on the 1st September 2012 and finishes at 10pm on the 1st December 2012. There will be no extensions so pull your finger out.... :P
2. Any model scale of any aircraft that have been flown or are flown in the PR, ELINT or AEW role only please.
3. Entries should have a WIP thread, with all major stages of construction covered.
4. Please head your WIP and finished build `PEA GB` followed by the aircraft`s designation. ie `PEA GB - Spitfire PR.19` (I thought that was a bit clever.... )
5. There will be an open voting system at the end of the GB and the winner will win, (from my own stash so no complaints please :P ), an Academy 1/72 Super Etendard kit for their trouble. (See pic below)
6. I will be entering the comp and will be included in the vote. In the unlikely event that I win, the prize wil go to 2nd place. (I think thats fair enough.... ;) )
7. Very important is rule number 6....., Remember to have fun.

Prize piccy......

So now it`s over to you guys to chat, vent or state your intensions.

If you have any questions regarding this GB or you feel I have missed something out, then feel free to post and I`ll get back to you.

Lets try and get a good turn out so spread the word people. :thumb:

Well I'll try and get something done for this, a Hunter PR10.

But bearing in mind I was unable to complete my Helicopter, Air Defence or Cold War entries

I'm moving my work area out of the loft so will have more 'on table time' available.

Nice to see the usual crowd gathering but are there any others out there that might want to have a go..??

As for me, I`m looking at doing a PB-1W, the grandaddy of AEW.... ;)

I may possibly join in, but I have several other kits on the go which I haven't touched for months

I really like the subjects of this Group Build, but don't have anything suitable in my small stash at the moment

Hope you do Stuart, as I recall your `Warning Star` was very nice. ;)

Again, please do Tonka. You have posted a couple of builds in the past and they were very good. (The whif tonka was great, but that might be me just being biased.. )

The more the merrier and it`s all good fun.

Taking the old advice, `there`s no time like the present`, I have ordered a PB-1W conversion set and a B-17G masking set. The conversion set seems to be getting a bit rare these days so I think I got lucky.

I have the relatively new Revell B-17G kit in the stash and after a bit of research it turns out that the G version is the one to use. The PB-1W is `chinless` like the E and F varients but it was a G airframe. It`s also good that the Revell G kit is also chin turret`less as you have to add it. Apart from paints and decals I think about ready.

Roll on September. ;)

You could pretty much take any fast jet, stick a RECCE pod on it, and bang it in the GB

TC,
My top 2 candidates for this one are a Hasegawa EKA-3B and Airfix/Heritage Canberra T17, do these qualify or does that open up another line for EW aircraft? If not i have the next 2 of my Spit project to fall back on along with another couple on your list.
Arabest,
Geoff.

Geoff, as far as I`m concerned both are good.

The Skywarrior would get my vote..... ;)
