Who`s up for a Group Build?

Post by tc2324 » Mon Jan 21, 2013 1:17 pm

So this will be the first Group Build of the year and I`d like to know how many members would be up for it?

Ideally I think 10 confirmed participants would be a good number and I`m up for a theme as well.

Over to you lot.

I keep saying yes and then run out of time! But yes, if its straight forward.

I suggest a Tamiya OOB build, such lovely fitting kits with no need for aftermarket stuff.

They do a range of models - even a 1/48 Lancaster if you fancy?

Once I`ve sold the mansion, sacked the Butler and binned the mistress, I might be able to afford that 1/48 Lanc .....

Nice idea but we may have to consider everyone's budgets.

It seems like a great idea!

We will need theme, a type of build.
Thanks very Much!

I've been thinking lately about a GB on here and whether we had enough members to support one. I guess we shall see  Add me to the list.

Happy to throw my hat in the ring if i have a suitable subject in the stash!

As for suggestions, Tamiya is out right away as its just too expensive and the one i have obtained, just needs finishing. Not sure if i can put anything else forward either as it would be doubling up on ideas put forward on Airshows at the minute!

Sorry to hear that Stuart. :(

Lets try and keep the theme simple. Do we go old or modern?

Or both?

With the 70th anniversary of the Dams raid coming up we could go for a 617 Sqn theme.

Any aircraft you so desire thats been operated by 617 thoughout it`s history. (This should also annoy any 9 Sqn fans out there as well..... )

I propose any training aircraft - massive choice, but not including OCU birds
Or for colour - any display team, eg Red arrows (gnats or hawks) Thunderbirds (O-51, F-16) blue angels (Skyhawk, F-18), etc, any team, any bird flown.

Should give plenty of options?

I was reading SAM last night before bed time and there was an advert with the latest Airfix Club Kit which is a Russian P-40, Spitfire and Hurricane, and that gave me an idea, a Russian GB. You have the obvious MiGs and Sukhoi but then you have all of the Lend Lease aircraft as well. There's a massive amount of kits available throughout the price range as well for those who'd want to take part.

Trainers is a good one for me but would like any twin stick included as thats a good excuse to break out my 2 seat Harriers.

Russia GB is another good one but i dont have anything in the stash at the minute, but there are a few i wouldnt mind!

I'll join in, the only sticking point is the type of GB.

Steve149c's suggestion of an OOB GB sounded good, although he then spoilt it with limiting it to Tamiya! :D

It's going to be difficult to pick something that all those who have indicated they will take part, will take part in.

OOB covers all types of aircraft (sorry all types of model unless it's restricted to aircraft) and all scales, the downer is for those who wish to get aftermarket cans for the F-15 and so on.

Ok, so we have the following suggestions.

OOB GB (Try saying that quickly after a few sherbets.... :D )

617 Sqn Anniversary GB

`Train to Fly` GB (Felt it needed a snazzy title :D )

Soviet GB

Anymore ideas or `seconded` before I pick one..... (We don`t do `democracy` here... )
