Comrades,

Well the GB has its first completed build!

The kit

Kit - Tamiya 1/100
Decals - OOB, all 8 of them :P
Paints - Tamiya, Model masters buffable metalisers and Citadel
Others - Clear, Flory Model black wash, plastic card and Tamiya tape
Review - a great little kit that cost £2.99. With lovely panel lines - the only down size was that the pit was non existent :'(

The plane

The Mig 21 is the longest running production aircraft spanning 25 years, plus with over 10,500 built, the numbers are astounding. The Mig 21 is supersonic, but suffered from the same problems as all these small jets, including the lightning - they were fast, but had a very limited fuel capacity!

Final reveal

Well this kit has fought me for the lat few stages, first I knocked off a weapons pylon, then I went to remove a small hair that was trapped in the paint, which resulted in a larger chip coming out - bless my daughter with her long hair :( So I patched up with Chrome Silver to simulate a repair job in the planes life, but that didn't exactly go to plan, and overran slightly. Ah well, here she is

Well guys, it's been a great build, which was frustrating towards the end. The decals refuse to sit down properly, and are rather heavy and thick!

Cheers for now

Comrades!

She is airborne

Manufacter : Airfix
Scale: 1/72
Kit: A03034 Petlyakov PE-2

History: The PE-2 modeled here comes from an unknown unit - but operated on the Eastern front in late 1943. The Pe-2 quickly proved itself to be a highly capable aircraft, able to elude the Luftwaffe's interceptors and allowing their crews to develop great accuracy with their bombing. Throughout 1942 the design was steadily refined and improved, in direct consultation with pilots who were actually flying them in combat. It was the fastest plane on the Eastern front at the start of the war, capable of 300 knots, and was steadily modified through the war.

All in all a brillant build with alot of lessons learnt - not bad for £5!

Problems (lessons for the future) - Getting canopies to sit on correctly and blend into the body!

Thanks for the comradey on this build - look forward to all comments and constructive critism

Not the best model I've ever built, but its the first vacform I've built in over 20 years and its a 35 year old kit, so not too displeased.

Great entry Jamie, the only thing I would say is try not to have so much in the background - a plain background works best, but it's a great model, be proud!!
