Next GB?
Hi guys,
Was wondering what the the next group build will be, as I'm hoping to enter this time and its always a laugh!
Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else, but I'm caught up in GCSE's from the first week, so I'm quite busy at the moment!
Thanks

Has anyone built the new Lightning 2 yet, is there a model of it with British markings

Re: Next GB?
I have the kittyhawk F-35B sitting on the bench at the moment. Supposed to be a bit of a to build so not started it yet! It has the pale grey roundels and fin flashes, but no serials.blakey wrote:Has anyone built the new Lightning 2 yet, is there a model of it with British markings

Re: Next GB?
No GB has been arranged yet Stu. After the success of the Red Star GB, the Aggressor GB seems to have met with a `chilly` response. One GB after another may not be the best of ideas right now so after this one I`m planning on sorting out the next one in December. A few months break maybe in order. Of course I`m always happy to listen to suggestions if you have any?Typhoon2 wrote:Hi guys,

I`m due to purchase the Kittyhawk 1/48 B version within the week. I`ll post a sprue review then.blakey wrote:Has anyone built the new Lightning 2 yet, is there a model of it with British markings
EDIT; Steve`s beat me to it.

Re: Next GB?
I've got the Kittyhawk F-35A model and I'm a little way through. There's some hefty old gaps in there, good job I topped up on filler from Modelzone in the liquidation sale. I'm going to try and do it in 617 markings if at all possible.

Re: Next GB?
I think the problem TC has been the current GB has coincidenced with summer holidays and warm. Alot of people move away from plastic in the summer

Re: Next GB?
Cant agree with that! Should see how many ive been pottering away with over the summer! Concentrating on a certain Phantom for a week then another 10 should jump over the finishing line just in time for a new GB.steve149c wrote:I think the problem TC has been the current GB has coincidenced with summer holidays and warm. A few suggestions.
WWII Fighters
New Tool Airfix
RAF through the years
Apart from that, my stash is too big!
Arabest,
Geoff.
Re: Next GB?
Blakey- no problem!
Steve- I agree with you, I would of entered the last but the holidays kept me distracted!
TC- the Break might be a good idea, but not until December, maybe running through December!
The reason I originally asked as I'm planning in going to the FAA Museum's model show in October and they usually have a fair share of traders, so a theme could help me buy some kits for the next GB!
RAF Trainers possibly?

Re: Next GB?
RAF Trainers could be fun, would give me another reason to build a Hawk... again
Re: Next GB?
How about Hawker GB or something to do with WWI OR WWII?
Re: Next GB?
Ok chaps, I`ll pencil in the the next GB to start on the 1st December and run for 3 months.
The suggestions are now flooding in, so add them here until the 1st of October and then I`ll sort out a poll.
So Far we have....,
WWII Fighters
New Tool Airfix
RAF through the years
RAF Trainers
Hawker
WW.2
WW.1

I would be up for this one as wellwaghorn41 wrote:How about aircraft of display teams?
Re: Next GB?
Display teams sounds like a great idea, would be me first choice at the moment, then RAF Trainers! Also, can we start it on the first of November, and do it for 4 months, as the Christmas period is quite busy and I might not have a lot of spare modelling time (don't know about anyone else), just a suggestion though.
Re: Next GB?
Well that would be me sorted for two competitions then - two more HuntersTyphoon2 wrote:Display teams sounds like a great idea, would be me first choice at the moment, then RAF Trainers! Re: Next GB?
How about a specific type, for example spitfire, phantom, hunter and so on.
Any kit, any scale, any markings as long as we all build the same type.
Just my thoughts

Seen as i have a few of each of these in the stash, ok for me, but experience says single type GBs in small groups doesnt work too well!atech wrote:How about a specific type, for example spitfire, phantom, hunter and so on.

Re: Next GB?
Have to agree with Geoff there. That kind of GB is ok with the dedicated modelling sites but I don`t feel it`s generic enough for the members here who might have to go out and spend money on something they might not want to build just to participate. Or worse still not participate.ArabJazzie wrote:Seen as i have a few of each of these in the stash, ok for me, but experience says single type GBs in small groups doesnt work too well!atech wrote:How about a specific type, for example spitfire, phantom, hunter and so on.

Also 4 months is too long Stu. A 3 month GB should be quite enough time.
So to update the list....,
WWII Fighters
New Tool Airfix
RAF through the years
RAF Trainers
Hawker
WW.2
WW.1
Display Teams
