A bit more info has popped up on the RAFs news site..................... http://www.raf.mod.uk/news/archive/unus ... y-06062011

News articles by date

Residents living near the north Shropshire air base RAF Shawbury as well as other areas of Shropshire may notice some unusual aerial activity over the coming week.

RAF Shawbury will be hosting many of the aircraft displaying at the Cosford Airshow on Sunday 12 June. On Saturday (11 June) the unit will receive three Tornado aircraft (approximately 1430), two Hawk aircraft (approximately 1430) and the 10 Hawk aircraft of the Red Arrows, who will arrive at approximately 1900.

On the airshow day on Sunday (12 June) the unit will operate many aircraft to and from Cosford. Aircraft operating out of Shawbury on Sunday include Hawk (1200), Tornado (1550), F86 Sabre (1810) and the Red Arrows (Times to be confirmed). Most of the aircraft will depart on Monday 13 June, although the Reds will depart directly from Cosford for Newcastle.

RAF Shawbury is proud to be able to assist in the smooth running of the Cosford Airshow. Full details of the proposed programme will be available in the week before the show on the RAF Shawbury Events page.

Must say thought it unusual that the reds will be departing direct from Cosford !
What's unusual about them finishing a display and then flying to their next destination? Or am I missing something?

Nice one Arthur.

Small points but the Hawks should be arriving from Brize and the GR4s from Mildenhall - they are displaying at RAF Wyton tomorrow and were due at Mildenhall overnight to allow the crews to attend a function back at Wyton in the evening.

Jonathon Whaley tells me that Miss Demeanour will be staying at Shawbury post display too.

Gareth,

Thanks for the comments - I've passed them onto Shawbury Operations.
Could prove a tad embarrassing if they try to chase-up the aircraft from the wrong station!

And as Gareth suggested...

Shawbury is now expecting Hunter G-PSST

Saturday 11th - Arrives from Blackpool at 1430

Sunday 12th - Departs for Cosford at 1650 and returns at 1730.

Monday 13th - Departs TBN.

Arthur

And yes - the Hawks are coming from Brize - but no correction for the Tornados!
