Hi all,

I'm glad to have joined the forum.
I'm ex RAF, having served in the 80s.
Recently, I got into photography and have travelled down to the Mach Loop and Lakenheath a couple of times but mainly go to the lakes as I live in Yorkshire.

Look forward to learning and sharing.
Cheers

Hello everyone.

My name is Tom and I live near Omagh in Northern Ireland. I have been interested in aircraft for years, and have taken up photography recently.
I would say my main interest would be warbirds, or modern military, but we don`t get much of that sort of aircraft here very often, except for airshows.
There is a small airfield for light aircraft near me, which has things like Skyranger`s and the odd helicopter. I did see what looked like a half scale Spitfire a few months back,
It might have been heading for Enniskillen.

Regards,
Hot Sidewinder

Thanks all, I hope to learn a bit more about aviation as well from here, FR24 is the main thing I would use to ID things going OTT of my area, but doubtless there are other useful sites for such things.
I do get plenty of high flyer`s as I call them, heading across the pond, I might try and take some contrail shots, as I have a Nikon 200-500mm lens which might just have enough reach to get some detail.

H.S

Hi all, new to the forum but a life long lover of aviation thanks to growing up close to RAF Finningley and gazing out of my classroom window to watch students in their JPs.

Hi S-W-B

Welcome to FC... sure you will enjoy it here.

Sounds like your not far from me... I also grew up watching the aircraft out of Finningley and served 12 years there.

Sad its no longer there... even as an airport.

Enjoy the forum.

Funnily enough, I used to look out of my classroom window at hayfield school back in 1977 watching the build up to the silver jubilee review. :thumb:

Teacher asked me the most ridiculous question - Richard, do you want to watch planes all afternoon or listen to me?

He wasn't impressed with my reply!!!!!

Welcome to the group. :pop:

Captain Scarlet is indestructable, you are not! Remember this, do not try to imitate him.

Hi S-W-B

Did you go to Hayfield to? ... like Richard... I was at Hayfield Comp... in 1977... I was in the 3Q then.

By 1979 I'd left Hayfield and was at RAF Bawtry till 84 and then RAF Finningley late 84 to 96...when it closed....very sad day.

Hope your enjoying looking around the forum :thumb:

Regards.
