Hi all, it's the first time I've posted on here, although I've been on here a little while, I've found the site really useful and me and my 11 year old son have managed to be at the right place at the right time on a number of occasions all thanks to all the valuable info on here!
Just today we have taken our love of military aviation to the next level and have purchased a psr 295, it's our first scanner and although I've played about with them in the past I really have no idea what I am doing, one thing I do understand is that a good antenna is important, so my first question and I am sure there is going to be many to come is what would be a good all round antenna to suit the psr 295 for between 20 and 30 quid! Im hoping to get this for before the scanner arrives so we can get started, so really looking for something that's easy to get hold of! Any info is appreciated guys as we really are novices! :S

Hi Seanyb1, welcome to the forum . There is a section of the forum dedicated to Radio Q&A and you will find a wealth of information regarding antennas . If you want a replacement antenna for hand held use, the Watson 881 or the Nagoya 771 are very popular . If you want an antenna for use at home a homemade bowtie fed with satellite coax would be a good place to start , you will find more information on these in the Radio Equipment Centre( look on the Board index page under worldwide milair monitoring ).

make sure you get the right version of the antenna to suit your PSR 295 ie a BNC version as there are SMA versions of the same antenna and beware of counterfeit versions I suggest you buy from uk based dealers rather than from china .

Hi paddyboy! And thanks again tazmin88 but already ordered a w881 from Amazon which is an SMA but I did order an adaptor with it so it'll fit! Hopefully this will do the job but I do understand that they aren't as robust!
