European Military Aircraft Museums

Post by Nuski » Fri Jan 28, 2022 12:35 pm

Hi all,
Couldn't see an obvious area to post this question in (Heritage was only area I could think but thought better to ask here first) I am looking for military aircraft museums people recommend in the following countries. Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. I have already visited Hermeskiel in Germany and Savigny Les Beaune in France.
Many thanks

Montelimar in France although I have only seen from the outside some years ago.

Dubendorf in Switzerland another good collection again some years since I visited.

I am sure other members will have better and wider experience.

There are dozens in all the countries you list, ranging from well preserved mega museums (like Duxford, Yeovilton, Hendon etc in the UK) to one wreck in a field which barely resembles a plane but has some historical relevance to someone.

Suggest you get try and get a copy of European Military Out of Service (EMOOS), and/or take a look at Eurodemobbed.

Glad to help. I take Malcolm's point about the vast range of locations and numbers. However you did ask about museums and of course the one I forgot from personal experience is Le Bourget (visited during an airshow).
