c17 Reach flights

Post by Sony » Thu Mar 24, 2022 6:19 pm

Hi folks

I like keeping a record of all the American c17 reach flights that i see transiting across Yorkshire. Over the years I've seen many of the same registrations up to 7 times and others i am still to see, can anyone with more knowledge than me shed any light as to why some airframes don't ever seem to come into UK airspace.

Thanks Ben

Ben
I will try for an answer on this, it may be wrong.

The aircraft are allocated to different units viewtopic.php?f=113&t=174923
The units are attached to different commands, https://www.af.mil/About-Us/Fact-Sheets ... aster-iii/
The commands have different missions and therefore the same aircraft are likely to be seen more often. I am aware that the ANG units commit aircraft to AMC missions for periods of time so for a while these aircraft become relativly common before returning to the ANG unit.
