Hey guys,
thanks for the add,
been a while since i was last on here, see some are still here, use to go up bwlch quite a bit in the works van Shell gas, anyhow work and stuff got in the way and i fell out with the hobby,
but after last year at RIAT i promised my self i would dust off the old yupi 7100 and sort out the camera gear, well its taken a year to get my act together,
so will be up there soon, wonder if the oldies are still around, and hanging around suicide rock at valley,

So quick question,
The Coastguard helis, can you hear them on the scanners when they first were around you use to be able to hear there comms, are they on AM or VHF anyone know?
cheers Misty

Yes you can hear them talking to air traffic control like any other aircraft, ie callsign where they are routing to.

They also have some Coastguard freqs around 156.000 NFM.

They also use encrypted radios ( maybe Tetra ) for the nitty gritty of the rescue operation with other rescue services that we can't hear.

Possibley use HF too if far out to sea.
