Glossary of terms
Hi guys, just wondering if theres a glossary of the most common terms used on here for newbies like me? im familar with a lot of military Acronyms but since joining here im at a loss to understasnd a lot of shorthand terms in various messages....(ASCOT,CONUS,AAR,ARW...etc etc.) While I know some of these listed I was wondering if theres a comprehensive listing about....I can mostly work out what is going on, sometimes it seems like theres an assumption of knowledge when reading some topics on here......just an observation

Re: Glossary of terms
I suggest reading the New Posts several times a day. That way, you can mentally cross reference a variety of information (for things you are interested in) and understand better.
Air Support Command Operational Transport (an RAF callsign, these days used more loosely than it suggests).
CONtinental US. IE not Hawaii!
Air to Air Refuelling.

Firstly welcome.
Basically if in doubt ask (or maybe try Google first sometimes as a little self help goes a long way). Most on here are glad to help - we were all beginners once. There is also the search option at the top of every page which may sometimes offer some extra assistance.

Re: Glossary of terms
Cheers guys.......I think this stems from listening to guys out and about spotting aircraft and every few seconds hearing some acronym or other and trying to decipher whats happening
for instance " theres a 4 ship inbound and just heard on ADS-B that one of them is squaking 7xxx and is talking about an IFE...he's coming in Point Charlie for a run round the circuit and has been given the option......" now I know what that means and yes i know its not accurate but when a 10 year old is asking whats going on then its easier to explain in long form and explain 3 letter acronyms later so if theyre on a scanner they can get a grasp of whats going on

What's 'the option '? Sometimes also happens at Mildenhall with a KC-135 taking off I think. Or is there a variety of 'options'?
Re: Glossary of terms
There are two options. Land, or don't.
The first option has one option: land.
The second option has many options: touch and go, low approach, go around, etc.
