Meteor WD705
Meteor WD705
Good morning, a bit of a random question, not too sure if you would be able to help me.
My Grandad turns 90 this year and he was based at RAF Wymeswold during the 50s for his National Service working around Gloster Meteors.
I have bought him a part from a Meteor for his birthday, I was unable to get a part from a Meteor that he would have worked on at Wymeswold, but have bought him a part from a Meteor with the serial number WD705. This Meteor was based at RAF Leeming.
I have looked on the internet for any images of WD705 but cannot find any.
I was wondering whether you or anyone on base would potentially have any information on this aircraft or any photos of this aircraft at all?
The only information I have is that on the UK database website which tells very little. I have contacted Leeming/Museum as well.
Many thanks for your help,
Kind regards,
Ross Souter.

Re: Meteor WD705
Maybe contact the Jet Age Museum at Staverton airport (Gloucester for those who younger). They have several Meteors and associated Gloster stuff, they might be able to help or point you in another direction.

Re: Meteor WD705
I take it that's from the Movement Card. I take it that FA is a damage category. What though are GD/A and ROS?

Re: Meteor WD705
MOS Ordnance Board sounds a bit ominous, possibly target practice. So blown to smithereens could be the possible ending.

Thank you all for your help!
Tommc, that is great, just out of interest where did you find all that information from and what do all the abbreviations mean?
thanks again everyone!
