Mildenhall 1/5/1990

Post by farnboroughrob » Thu Sep 16, 2021 12:06 pm

Have quite a few gaps from this quick visit that day, no idea why
C141 (not 50217)
C5
2x KC135 not 37985,71462,37976,13627,14847, 12867, 10285, 14846, 10286, 10291,
5 x C-130 not 70524,37809

Know what the TDY's were would be a big help?
thanks
Rob

Hi farnboroughrob, a couple of those you’ve listed as KC135’s, are not actual KC135 serials, one is possibly a misspole and is 63627, but the other I’ve no idea I’m afraid.

I would hazard a guess that 12867 may have been 12667 - which was the 10ACCS trainer, I believe.

This is all from memory:

"2x KC135 not 37985,71462,37976,13627,14847, 12867, 10285, 14846, 10286, 10291,"

1 = 63-7985 KC-135
2 = 57-1462 KC-135
3 - 63-7976 KC-135
4 - probably 63627 = 56-3627 KC-135
5 - 14847 = 64-14847 being an RC-135
6 - 12867 - Likely to be 12667 = 61-2667 EC-135 10ACCS trainer
7 - 10285 = 61-0285 EC-135H with the based 10ACCS
8 - 14846 = 64-14846 being an RC-135
9 - 10286 = 61-0286 EC-135H with the based 10ACCS
10 - 10291 = 61-0291 EC-135H with the based 10ACCS

"5 x C-130 not 70524,37809"
70524 = 57-0524 C-130A Non flying BDR Training airframe
37809 = 63-7809 C-130E which was often part of TDYs ith either the 314 or 317 TAW but I can't remember which unit.

Agree it was part of the 10th ACCS and acted as their 'trainer' but think it was still designated a 'WC-135'
