Turkish C-130 Mildenhall 8th July 1996

Hi,

Would anyone have the serial of a brown/green camo Turkish C-130 at Mildenhall on 8th July 1996? I've got a picture through the fence but its into the sun so not readable. It was parked near the old viewing area.

'BAR' has two THK C-130Es of 222 Filo visiting during the month: 04168 'TUAF 468' on 3/7 (dep 5/7) and 13188 'TUAF 188' on 5/7 (dep 6/7).

Cheers, I wonder if I have the date slightly wrong. This was the aircraft, there is a similar picture I've found on Flickr with the serial shown as 73-0991 but dated as June 1996, but I'm trying to work out why I was there then, Marham photocall maybe? I think the Herc was same day as Casey01 KC-135E 57-2589?

Well I've had a look at the 'BAR' March-September 1996-98 movements at Mildenhall, and using 57-2589/OF bl ('Casey 01', 55 Wing) as the guide, the following dates come up:

26/3/96:
57-2589 was on the ground at the same time as THK C-130E 01468/12-468 222 Filo (dep 28/3).

24/6/96:
57-2589 was on the ground at the same time as THK C-130Es 13188 and 13189 both 222 Filo (both dep 26/6).

15/3/97:
57-2589 arrived and may have been on the ground at the same time as THK C-130E 00991 222 Filo, which arrived on 18/3 and departed on 20/3.

Cheers for the info, and the time taken to research. I'm definitely hedging towards the June 1996 date, I can't ever recall being at the Hall in March. The slides are stamped July 96 by Kodachrome so it fits there as well. It sort of coincides with the 1996 Marham photocall so maybe it was on the way home from there and I think there were two Turkish Hercs on the ground. I'll have to dig the projector out and see if I can read the serial off a projected image.
