Dutch Serial Long Shot

Post by mudhen15 » Sat Mar 02, 2024 8:06 am

Going through old logs, I've got Alouette III A.281 and F-27 C-3 logged, but no location or other details. As I didn't start going to Europe for airshows and base visits until 2002, fairly sure they were seen in the UK. Could anyone help with when these aircraft visited to UK.

Many thanks for looking

A-281 was in the UK as a Grasshopper in 1981 - however the Grasshoppers were regulars on the UK airshow scene for many years so would have been a frequent visitor.

Same really for the F-27 C-3 - very frequent visitors to the UK from mid 70s onwards.

Difficult to precisely tie up dates for such frequent visitors

Thanks. Had a horrible feeling they were regular visitors. Forgot to add started doing airshows 1990.

Crikey! Dutch Troopship's were almost weekley visitors into Norwich airport for maintenance but also a stalwart of airshows during that period along with the Grasshoppers team! Alouette 3's and Bo105's from 299 and 298 squadron's(?) were also very regular at UK airshows. Sorry but think you've got your work cut out with that one.

Only thing I'd say about C-3, was it was one of the F-27-100 versions, so it wouldn't have been a display aircraft. It did visit IAT in 1991 for example, if it was a show reference.
