Transall Movements

Post by AlanM » Thu May 15, 2014 7:49 am

Hi

Searching old log books and I came up with the following Transall questions, mostly from driving past Northolt:

1978-10-08 at Northolt
1981-04-14 departing Northolt at 1425L
1985-02-19 a French one departing Northolt
1987-10-29 callsign GAF314 could be an overflight?
1991-03-07 Northolt
1992-08-4 Turkish departed Lyneham
1992-09-07 GAF at Northolt
1992-09-10 GAF at Northolt

I have tried the usual on line lists no luck, anyone got old logs or magazines.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Alan

Alan,
Not a complete list, but I hope these details from 'BAR' help:

19/02/85: C-160F F13/61-MH ET-61
29/10/87: Sorry, no November '87 'BAR', so no info for Northolt October movements
07/03/91: C-160D 51+05 LTG-62
04/08/92: No details of August movements in 'BAR'
07/09/92: C-160D 50+09 LTG-??
10/09/92: C-160D 51+05 LTG-??

Cheers,
Rob

Further to my previous post: both 50+09 and 51+05 were noted at Koln-Bonn/Wahn in June, October and November '92 as being with LTG-62, so I think it would be pretty safe to assume that they were with this unit when seen at Northolt in September '92.

Alan, according to BAR/BARG,

1. 10-August-1978 50+67 Ltg 63.
2. 14-April-1981, no Transalls logged today. Only twin engined transport logged, F.27 C-10.
3. 29-October-1987 3 German Transalls logged today. 50+65 Ltg 62, landed on one engine.
Also 50+60 Ltg62, plus one unknown.

Cheers, Peter

If it's of any interest, I also have a German (Luftwaffe or Marineflieger) Dornier Skyservant logged on 07/09/92 heading to (or out of) Northolt. Don't have the serial I'm afraid...
