Problems at plane Rock.
Problems at plane Rock.
At the start I would like to say that I am only visiting this week, but, it seems as though there could be problems at the runway 13 end. I have visited each day this week and the carpark which is used for plane spotter and beach users has been blocked off, this means while I have been there the road at the top has been a mess of people wanting to get in and out. A local who I spoke to has said it is a common land issue, and people have left the beach area in a state, including urine and other habits on the land so now action by a local group is being enforced, including a gate at the top of the road blocking access. Hopefully it gets sorted out, I have had a great week at Valley and want to come back.
Re: Problems at plane Rock.
No one knows exactly why or what has caused the blockage, but sadly it nothing to do with the MOD/RAF.... some rumours going about that the owner of Zip World has purchased the land/house so it all up in the air at the moment sadly..... but hopefully it get sorted one way or another soon.

Thanks for responding sion, as a non-local i was worried about posting, it was about as a plane spotter/ entusiast but thought it was something that could affect future visitors. The security was walking round in a, shall I say willy waving exhibition on his phone so everyone could hear talking about " don't care if the RAF are panicking, there will be a gate by the end of the week"
Re: Problems at plane Rock.
What I would like to say is a thank to the locals I have spoken to ( including beach goers) who have been really nice to me this week

Re: Problems at plane Rock.
The "blockage" I was told is due to the impending Valley families day and freeloaders parking there with the possibility of it sabotaging the planned short flying display, by standing on fraggle rock/ spotters rock/ miser's mound or any other name you know it as. I was also told told Eventbrite had erected the fencing to control who goes into that area (prople living in the area have passes)
How much truth there is, will be seen after the event.

If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

Re: Problems at plane Rock.
I was there Wednesday and not having been for a long while was surprised to see a caravan and 4x4 together with a small movable barrier just where the track leads down onto the beach.
I was very early so parked sensibly but because it caused a choke point the top the small car park there soon got full. The crash gate while not quite blocked would of taken some negotiating and that was on a crap weather day!!
Some of the cars were obviously dog walkers who then had to park at the top too as their access was blocked also.
Hope it gets sorted and everyone can enjoy the beach for whatever purpose.

Local reports say the rock (mound) is no longer. A gate has been moved, and the sides cut, so you cannot drive onto it.
So it looks like another case of use it, then lose it.

Yes, gone, you should be able to walk along the road past the gate as it’s part of the Anglesey Coastal Path. Time will tell, sadly as per most things in life the minority always spoil it for the majority!

Yes the new gate went in on Saturday and also the mound has been dug out and built up to stop any vehicles parking up on it, This now leaves very little space to park such a shame that wild camping has spoilt it for so many !

Re: Problems at plane Rock.
So in future probably easier to park at the Rhosneigr end and walk along the beach towards the helicopter and Texan hangars, dodging the local wildlife in the sand dunes whilst we are at it?

Re: Problems at plane Rock.
Visited today and whatever the motives for the installation of the gate it is only creating further problems with the amount of people who will always turn up. I can understand some of the reasoning but this appears to be a sledgehammer to crack a walnut. Suffice to say I doubt very much if anyone in our community has caused grief. I did however note a grey Transit Van let himself in and this ended up at the house that can be seen in the distance, and the gate will still not prevent wild campers. Just hope people do try to park sensibly in what space there is or the RAF/MOD will get involved and ban cars altogether.

Re: Problems at plane Rock.
Had a chat with a local today and the whole issue stems from the great unwashed using the beach area as a playground and leaving a filthy mess everywhere, he did seem to think that there would be complaints about the gate but that remains to be seen. A possible solution could be a height restricted barrier but then that would only prevent bigger camper vans from entering the area, a very sad state of affairs. As has been said the same old story, the minority spoiling it for the majority.
