Windermere flypast

Post by verreli » Fri Aug 13, 2021 8:03 pm

Three hawks from Valley performed a formation flypast over Windermere at 1pm today. Does anyone know the reason?

I dont think it was a 'flypast' I think it was just part of their low level route through it happens quite often. Windermere is the entry route into the lakes most used.

Perhaps it was a training flight but they specifically NOTAM'd for Windermere. Just curious.

It was the three T2's which went into Leeming led by ZK020/K , the 4 Squadron special . See here ; viewtopic.php?f=8&t=208810 .
I saw them land back at Valley .

Thanks, interesting to know where they went after Windermere. Still no clue if it was a training sortie or to mark an event though.

I saw a formation of three hawks overhead as I drove past Leeming southbound on the A1 last Thursday afternoon, just assumed it was a training formation.

I wonder if it was the same trio went through Windermere?

Highly likely. Interesting that they stayed in formation all the way over to Leeming which I guess lends credibility to it being a training sortie.

Plus there are Qatari Students/Instructors going through Valley at the moment including a female.

Thanks all. That's one hell of a challenge and a good cause to boot. Hope the flypast gave him some moral support.
