Whilst driving up to Mildenhall for the Qatari Eagles yesterday, I overtook a 6-truck oversized load convoy heading clockwise around the M25, just north of the Potters Bar junction. The last 5 trucks contained what looked like the entirety of Shackleton MR.3 WR985 / H, whilst the lead truck held a substantial section of fuselage which looked very much like a Lancaster, although I couldn't see any obvious ID and I suspect may be a replica.
The Shack was last noted at St Mawgan (I know it's supposed to be called Newquay Airport now, but it will always be St Mawgan to me!), but I have no idea about the 'Lanc'.
Can anyone shed any light on where these two frames might be headed please? I did wonder about Duxford, but when I went past around 17.30 last night I couldn't see any sign of them.

Thanks. Any ideas about the Lanc ID?

Hi Kev
I was down at St Mawgan last month on holiday and paid the Museum a visit... Next door is an establishment that makes replicas and outside behind the Shackleton was a substantial fuselage of a Lancaster with nose art...
( OUR BEAUTIFULLY BABE ) a quick google search reveals that this is a rebuild.
I just googled Lancaster fuselage at Cornwall aviation heritage Centre and hit images and the lmLanc comes up.
So this may well be what you saw.
Hope this helps.
