Wasps & Scouts in store at Thruxton
Morning all
Paid a visit here yesterday to find 5 or 6 Wasps & Scouts tucked away in the new green hangar, up past the Heliwork hangar. They have now installed frosted glass so it's rather hard to make out the registrations of what's inside but I made out Scout XW613 but that was it. Can anyone shed any light on where they've come from and what the registrations are please? Thanks

Hi Graham,
I had a similar experience on 22.3.2015.
The only additional one I read off was the ex SAAF Wasp 92, which doubles up as G-BYCX.
As you say there were certainly 3 additional Scouts and possibly parts of another.
Sounds like one for EGVP to investigate to me.
Cheers
Trevor

Well, you'll be glad to know I didn't die! All hangars well locked up yesterday, will try again mid-week if I get chance.

Re: Wasps & Scouts in store at Thruxton
Nipped by on Thursday, from the back of the hangar there is a
- pod on the left, I thought this was a Wasp,
- in front of this was a Scout with polythene around the rear of the boom so unreadable.
- Next to the Scout was BYCX/92 Wasp,
- next a Scout, complete but too dark to read
- then Scout XW613 all facing the airfield.
- Next was a wasp facing the back of the hangar. I thought it was coded 606.
This would make three Wasps, three scouts. 606 could be XT420(G-CBUI) I do not think the mystery is solved (yet)

I visited on the 10th June & comfirmed (all got through the windows at the rear of the hangar) Wasp 92/G-BYCX, Wasp XT420/606(G-CBUI), Scout XW613(G-BXRS), another Scout nose on code S on its nose & at least another 2 Wasp's or Scouts!

Noted today (4th November 2015)
? Wasp pod (could this be XT793?)
? Scout with blue plastic over boom (there is a photo of G-BWJW being roaded out of Thurxton some time ago with blue plastic over boom, did it come back?)
?/S Scout (any offers from the code "S", it is brown and green colour scheme with large code so quite old, I may have to dig BARGs out of the garage)
XW613 Scout
NZ3909 Wasp
(XT420)/606 Wasp
G-BYCX Wasp

Re: Wasps & Scouts in store at Thruxton
Also re Harry's post of Apr 20th, I would doubt XW799 having a serial if this photo is correct of it on demobbed from March 2013. Had the pod been recovered to the hangar?

I paid another visit to Thruxton on Saturday 30th Jan 2016 and there was a Scout inside the green hangar coded "S". Can anyone help with an ID please? Many thanks
