Canadian F18s at LeedsBradford Airport

Post by bonafido » Mon Oct 02, 2017 5:59 am

At about 13:30 on Saturday 3xF18s took off from Leeds/Bradford airport. On the local Facebook someone said they had stopped to refuel on their way back to Canada. Really!!
Does a civil airport have the correct grade of fuel?
Why didn't they go to Leeming?
Where did they come from and where were they actually going?

Thanks

Mike

They have been down in Corsica on an exercise with French af units
And we're heading home via Leeds and Keflavik

Jet A-1 is perfectly adequate fuel and is widely used by the military when visiting civil airfields. Far cheaper than having Leeming opened up just for a fuel stop that's for sure!

Thanks Eagle and Biz for the info.
Extra question. Why doesn't this happen more often?
Would really like to see more military jets at LBA.

Cheers Mike

LBA often gets military flights in , both landing and as overshoots or circuit training .
