Chinooks over Oxfordshire - 4 May

Post by Derek » Thu May 05, 2022 8:03 am

There were 6 Chinooks in formation heading south over SW Oxfordshire with another smaller aircraft (fixed wing or helicopter) above them. It looked like a flypast practice with a "whip". I was driving in busy traffic and couldn't stop for a closer look. Can anyone help with serials?

Should have been these 3 Chinooks + 4 Pumas :- viewtopic.php?f=287&t=218556&p=1406153#p1406153

I've not seen any serials reported for them yet.
This season, I'll be mostly wearing........A THONG!

According to my ADSB/Mode-S receiver at home, Chinook "Metal 1" was ZH892 and "Metal 3" ZA679. A third Chinook ZA720 was picked up at the same time and height, but was transmitting as "SHF473".

Of the Pumas, only XW224 transmitted, as "Voodoo01". No other Pumas were picked up at around that time.
