Syerston Tornados?

Post by fatherfaff » Mon Jun 20, 2022 2:51 pm

Nothing happening at Syerston on Friday but I noted one grey Tornado out on the tarmac - visible from main gate and also from ther side of airfield - is this ZA267 or ZA357 does anyone know? Cheers.

Just checked a Scramble and Demobbed websites and both would indicate it being ZA267. ZA357 is at Cosford as far as I know.

Mark.

Good Evening,
ZA267 was one of the pre-production prototypes
Has it been repainted from it''s original scheme to represent a 25 Sqn F.3 can anyone confirm please ?
Thaks and regards,
Paul

It's coded 'FA' of 25 sqn, click on the Demobbed link in my post above and then click on it's serial to see the photo.

Yes, both Tornados should be at Syerston but only one appears to be outside and they both look similar from a distance ( ie. grey). So just wondering which one is outside!

Both are outside, along with a Tucano in the middle of them.

Both were outside in May, when i travelled past. I was unable to see the Tucano from any vantage points though

Hi Paulk, from what point were you able to see both of them do you remember? I have to say I saw one from by the main gate and assume I saw the same one from the small road on the other side of the runway. I can't say I looked very hard from the gate side!

Fatherfaff, I was stood next to them. But from memory it’s ZA357 you saw from the main gate, the F2 is to its left.

Part of the tail of the Tucano can be seen from outside.

Thanks Paul K - I think I will just have to revisit and try harder to spot all three. Where could you see the Tucano tail from do you remember?
