I'm glad I went to Duxford in the end, as I very nearly did opt for a visit to Southend.

I opted for a visit to Duxford in the end. The family wanted to have a good look around the museum as well, so we made a day of it.
558 came in nice and low from the West with a pass, did a turn over the M11 and headed back in across the airfield towards the AAM , at which point the engines spooled up and howled like only a Vulcan can as 558 climbed away! The day was made by that moment alone .

BBC "Look East" local news reported this on their Sunday evening programme. Whilst describing the aircraft and it's manouvers, they showed film of the B17 taking off & flying.

Duxford was quite busy yesterday with the Classic wings Rapides going up with the Spitfires. P-51 Ferocious Frankie went up, as did the B-17, Blenheim & the Catalina. There was also a Chipmunk & Texan doing circuits as well, it was like a mini airshow. The P-51 did a screaming low pass, almost cutting the grass!!!
