As an affordable-housing enclave for arachnids, with somewhere between Bob Hope & No Hope of doing public revenue-earning live-runs at Doncaster, one can envisage a time soon when Staff overheads & Management costs are reduced to peanuts.(hopefully?) A 'dead' XH558 is no more appealing than any other grounded Vulcan & should be left outside like all the other examples that haven't received such charitable benefit. If those examples can survive on a diet of personal dedication, public events & British weather, why not?sploosher wrote:
Looks like they still have not learnt, at least when she is grounded, they wont have to `beg` for as much money as they have been year on year
You have it in one! A Vulcan that doesn't fly is about a interesting to the General Public & particularly youngsters as paint drying. Ask any bunch of school-kids if they would like to go & see an aeroplane which once represented all that is Great about Britain, or visit a Theme Park (respectful nod to recent events) & it will be the latter!Sylar wrote:The whole concept of keeping 558 at Doncaster is flawed. The general public are only interested when she flies.
Cheers

There appears to be two time slots for each day, so it will be keeping an eye on the weather and the XH558 twitter feed etcHunter49 wrote:Thanks for the info , any idea of times . ROB
Are there any preserved Vulcan's/Victor's north of East Fortune??. The flying tour is as the title says, 'Salute to the V-Force' so why fly over somewhere there isn't a V-Bomber on display?Thunder wrote:The VTTS have yet again shown no interest in Scotland with only pencilling in a fly over of East Fortune, what about the rest of the country?
Like Barton Aerodrome? (or has it grown significantly since being renamed "City Airport")Pen Pusher wrote:The flying tour is as the title says, 'Salute to the V-Force' so why fly over somewhere there isn't a V-Bomber on display?
