Please can anyone provide any detail about Vulcan B2 s/n XH555, 230 OCU
I believe XH555 suffered a heavy landing at Finningley in 1969
Did XH555 ever fly again after this mishap.
When was XH555 broken up, and was it scrapped at Finningley or at St Athan.

Vulcan B Mk.2 XH555 Completed in June 1961 and fitted with Olympus 201 engines (small intakes). Served with: 27 Squadron and 230 OCU. After a heavy landing at Finningley in 1968, the airframe was then used for fatigue tests at HSA Woodford until 1970. Struck off charge in 1971 and scrapped in 1977.

" On 29 February 1968 the aircraft was badly damaged whilst landing at Finningley which required some attention from the Manufacturers CWP Team . By May 1958 XH555 was back in the hands of the OCU remaining in service until it was flown to St.Athan in November 1970 . Stripped of spare the remainder was given a thorough investigation to determine the effects of service life upon the Vulcan airframe especially one that had been repaired after serious damage . The airframe was struck off charge on 5 October 1971 , the remains being removed in 1977 . "
